ANNUAL STUDENT COMPETITION


INTRODUCTION

GABM is annually looking for at least 100 student teams, each comprising of 10 – 20 students, from the leading Universities around the globe to compete against each other in a philanthropic competition, with prize money exceeding $2.5 million US Dollar.

The competition is first and foremost about dynamic and philanthropically minded students who have recognized, and in solidarity would like to collectively bring about change and hope for, the plight of the millions of young deserving underprivileged people all over the world having no access to tertiary education, or professional career opportunities, or access to job opportunities to support their families as a result of the devastating effects of global poverty.

Moreover, the competition is all about these dynamic and philanthropically minded students participating in a joint effort to create global awareness on GABM’s philanthropic programs, specifically designed to develop the next generation of global business leaders and professionals.


Moreover, the competition is all about these dynamic and philanthropically minded students assisting GABM to increase its capacity to sponsor more students, and fund more young entrepreneurs as well as business development projects, and create more sustainable job opportunities, and increase business and leadership mentoring programs as an effective measure to alleviate global poverty.
 
To date, GABM associate members have:

·       Provided tertiary education sponsorships to more than 12 000 deserving underprivileged individuals at approved international universities
·   Invested more than $8-billion US Dollar in thousands of large business development projects, which created more than 150 000 permanent and temporarily job opportunities
·   Provided approximately $90-million US Dollar in funding to more than 40 000 small entrepreneurs and subsistence farmers in 38 African countries

OBJECTIVE

In GABM’s quest to alleviate global poverty, our objective with this completion is to:

·   Create awareness about GABM and its philanthropic activities in every democratic country of the world.
·         Create and mobilize a global movement in the fight against poverty.
·         Launch a successful and effective GABM Corporate Branding drive.
·         Enlist 10 000 new GABM associate members.
·         Register 50 000 new deserving ‘Adopt a Student’ applicants.
·         Register 50 000 new deserving ‘Adopt an Entrepreneur’ applicants.

WHY PARTICIPATE?

GABM offers significant prize money and benefits to the respective student teams participating in the annual competition.

Prize Money:


1st Prize: The annual winning student team will receive $ 1-million US Dollar.

2nd Prize: The annual second student team will receive $ 750 000 US Dollar.

3rd Prize: The annual third student team will receive $ 500 000 US Dollar.
4th Prize: The annual fourth student team will receive $ 250 000 US Dollar.
5th Prize: The annual fifth student team will receive $ 125 000 US Dollar.

THE ASSIGNMENT

The annual student teams will be required to develop and launch a successful GABM Branding and Marketing campaign over a period of 13 weeks in their respective Country or State.

The respective student teams will receive 13 (thirteen) weekly assignments to complete, and will be adjudicated on the following criteria:

GABM Branding Assignment (Weeks 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 of competition):



·      Formulating an effective and professional Branding Strategy for GABM (GABM will judge the Branding Strategy in terms of its originality, quality, level of professionalism and creativity, and award points for the best effort. GABM will award a maximum of 50 points in respect of the Branding Strategy category);
· Launch of a successful & effective international GABM Branding Campaign (GABM will judge the Branding Campaign of each team in terms of its results as well as achievements, and award points for the best effort. GABM will award a maximum of 200 points in respect of the Branding Campaign category).

GABM Associate Membership & Advertising Marketing Assignment (Weeks 5 & 6 & 7 & 8 & 9 & 10 & 11 & 12 & 13 of competition):

·     Formulating an effective and professional Marketing Strategy for GABM (GABM will judge the Marketing Strategy in terms of its originality, quality, level of professionalism and creativity, and award points for the best effort. GABM will award a maximum of 50 points in respect of the Marketing Strategy category);
·        Launch of a successful & effective international GABM Marketing Campaign (GABM will judge the Marketing Campaign of each team in terms of its results as well as achievements, and award points for the best effort. GABM will award a maximum of 700 points in respect of the Marketing Campaign category).

Registration to participate in this competition:
 
Registration dates for competitions will be announced annually.


The Application Form for student teams to register to participate in the annual 'GABM Students for Philanthropy Competition' is available on the ‘Downloads’ section of GABM’s website.
 
No late registrations will be considered.

Announcement of competition winners:


GABM announces the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place winners to all participating student teams.


Competition Judges:

The GABM Board of Executives will be the judges of the competition.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

Herewith the Rules and Regulations of the annual Competition:

·  The official name of the annual competition is ‘GABM Students for Philanthropy Competition’
·        All decisions taken by GABM in this competition will be final and cannot be contested
·        GABM has the exclusive right to terminate this competition at any time, at its discretion
·        GABM has the exclusive right to extend the closing date of this competition
·        A minimum of 100 registered student teams are required to compete in this competition
·        Each respective student team must have between 10 and 20 members
·      All Intellectual Property Rights relating to any information and strategies and marketing material created, designed and/or developed by student teams in this competition will be vested in GABM, and student teams or individual student team members will have no right or title thereto
·      Student teams competing in this competition must at all times conduct themselves within local as well as international laws, with specific reference to any direct or on-line marketing activities
·   GABM will not take responsibility for any action or conduct of student teams or their respective team members during the competition
·   Student teams must only use official or approved GABM promotional or marketing material when engaging in any marketing or other campaign
·       Student teams are not allowed to commit GABM to any contract or agreement with any third parties
·      GABM has the exclusive right to expel, or terminate the participation of any student team or student team member from this competition at any time
·   GABM has the exclusive right to decline any associate membership or advertising application submitted by a student team or individual student team member
·       All GABM associate membership from student teams must be submitted electronically to the GABM Board of Executives
·        GABM is not in terms of this competition required to contribute or fund any aspect of the student teams marketing or any other activity or campaign of whatsoever nature (Each student team is required to fund its own activities in terms of participating in this competition.)
·    GABM will award the first prize of $1-million US Dollar to the student team who has gathered the most points throughout this competition, subject to the first prize winner having gathered a minimum of 500 points
·       GABM will award the second prize of $750 000 US Dollar to the student team who has gathered the second most points throughout this competition, subject to the second place winner having gathered a minimum of 400 points
·    GABM will award the third prize of $500 000 US Dollar to the student team who has gathered the third most points throughout this competition, subject to the third place winner having gathered a minimum of 300 points
·     GABM will award the fourth prize of $250 000 US dollar to the student team who has gathered the fourth most points throughout this competition, subject to the fourth place winner having gathered a minimum of 300 points
·       GABM will award the fifth prize of $125 000 Dollar to the student team who has gathered the fifth most points throughout this competition, subject to the fifth place winner having gathered a minimum of 300 points
·   GABM will at the successful completion of each annual competition appoint (2) two candidates from each student team to represent GABM in an official capacity in their respective country or state. (Such an appointment of individual student team members will be subject to a standard GABM employment contract.)
